DHI hair transplant
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a technique in which grafts extracted by FUE are placed directly with Choi-type implanter pens. Because channel creation and implantation happen in one motion, it suits densifying between existing hair and precise hairline work.

How is it done?

Consultation and drawing
Donor density is measured, the hairline is drawn on your face and confirmed only with your approval.

Graft extraction
Grafts are extracted one by one from the donor area, just as in FUE.

Loading the pen
Each graft is loaded into the tip of an implanter pen set to the planned angle and depth.

Direct implantation
The pen opens the channel and releases the graft at once; angle and direction are controlled graft by graft.
Recovery timeline
Days 1–3
Mild swelling and tenderness are possible. The first wash is done at the clinic.
Days 7–14
Scabs fall away and redness fades noticeably.
Weeks 2–8
Some transplanted hairs shed temporarily (shock loss).
Months 3–6
New hairs emerge fine and gradually thicken.
Month 12
The lasting result settles; the crown can take up to 18 months.

Frequently asked questions
Is DHI or FUE better?
They serve different needs. FUE leads for large areas; DHI leads for densifying and unshaven work. Some plans combine both techniques.
Can DHI really be done without shaving?
In most cases the recipient area can be treated unshaven. At least part of the donor area usually needs trimming.
Is recovery different after DHI and FUE?
The basic recovery timeline is similar for both methods: scabs usually shed within the first 10 days, new hair typically starts to grow from around month three, and the result is assessed at month twelve.
